Islip Terrace is a hamlet in the Town of Islip with about 5,323 residents as of the 2020 census, packed into a little over a square mile on Long Island's South Shore. The hamlet was originally developed in 1914 as Germantown before being renamed Islip Terrace in 1922, when the post office moved into the old Wagner Hotel on Carleton Avenue, which still runs today as the hamlet's main street of delis, shops, and family businesses. It is mostly a residential hamlet of modest single family homes, townhome communities, and a 55 plus condo community on Providence Drive, and it is also where Guinea Pig Auto Detailing is based.
This is the one page on our site where we are not driving in from somewhere else. Our shop sits at 170 Garfield Ave, right in the middle of the hamlet, so when you book a detail in Islip Terrace we are not routing a van up a parkway, we are pulling out of our own street. That means faster scheduling, shorter windows between bookings, and a level of familiarity with these blocks that comes from actually living here, not just servicing it.
We are headquartered at 170 Garfield Ave, right in the hamlet, not driving in from another town.
The shortest response time and easiest scheduling on our whole route, since Islip Terrace is where we start every day.
Deep familiarity with Islip Terrace's short driveways and narrow lots, gained from working here every week for years.
Local roots that go back to the hamlet itself. Guinea Pig grew up on these streets, not just into them.
Islip Terrace is small, a little over a square mile, and dense for its size, so most of the hamlet is a short walk or an even shorter drive from our own front door on Garfield Ave. We are not estimating traffic on a parkway to reach you, we already know which blocks near Carleton Avenue get shade in the afternoon and which streets stay in full sun most of the day, because we drive them every week whether or not we have a job booked.
Housing here runs toward modest single family homes on narrow lots, a scatter of townhome communities, and Providence on the Park, a 55 plus condo community off Providence Drive that opened in 2011. Driveways in Islip Terrace tend to be short and close to the street, which actually makes setup faster here than almost anywhere else we work, we are not hauling hose and equipment across a long lot or around a shared parking area.
The hamlet's identity was shaped by a name change. It started in 1914 as a development called Germantown, and the name was swapped for Islip Terrace in 1922 when anti German sentiment during World War I made the original name a liability, with the new post office moving into the former Wagner Hotel on Carleton Avenue. We have added a small piece to this hamlet's more recent history too, since this is where we chose to put down roots and grow the business, not just a territory we expanded into.
Since we are based right here, booking a detail in Islip Terrace is usually simpler than anywhere else on our schedule. Tell us your street and we already have a good idea of the parking situation, whether that is a driveway near Carleton Avenue or a spot at Providence on the Park. We still bring our own water and power to every job, the same as we would three towns over, but the drive itself is the shortest one we make all week, because there is no drive.
Islip Terrace itself does not have a dedicated car wash or detail shop on Carleton Avenue. The closest fixed location options are just over the hamlet line in neighboring East Islip, where a couple of car washes operate on Carleton Avenue. That leaves the hamlet without a shop of its own to drive to, which makes it a little unusual that the mobile detailer covering that gap is literally headquartered on one of Islip Terrace's own residential streets. Our 4.8 star average and more than 175 Google reviews were built largely on jobs just like the one we would do for a neighbor down the block.
Being based in Islip Terrace means we can pair a full detail with extra services without adding travel time. Ask about our car wash add-on for regular upkeep between full details, touch-up paint repair for small chips and scratches, headlight restoration for oxidized lenses, and ceramic coating if you want a finish that holds up between visits from your neighborhood detailer.
Want the exterior on its own? See exterior detailing. Need everything inside and out in one visit? That's a full detail. And once your car is caught up, ask about a recurring maintenance plan so it stays that way.

Yes, all of it. We are based on Garfield Ave in the middle of the hamlet, so every street in Islip Terrace, from Carleton Avenue to Providence Drive, is inside our core service area.
Often, yes. Islip Terrace bookings do not require routing a van up a parkway, so we can frequently offer tighter scheduling windows here than in towns farther from our shop.
Not currently inside the hamlet itself. The nearest fixed location car washes are just over the line on Carleton Avenue in East Islip. We are the mobile option that is actually based in Islip Terrace.
There basically is no distance. Our shop is at 170 Garfield Ave, inside Islip Terrace, so residents here are about as close to us as any customer gets, and Islip Terrace bookings do not carry a travel fee.
